The judges highlighted the project’s strong research and analysis, with clear concepts and diagrams that were easy to understand. The evocative “Woven Basket” theme and precedent images brought a strong sense of place, while creative ideas like the tower walk stood out, even if they felt grand in scale. The sections and visuals were compelling, and the narrative showed thoughtful intent. Overall, a beautifully presented project with strong vision and creativity.

About
Torie Stover
Torie is a landscape designer whose work is grounded in wildlife ecology, ecological restoration, and California native plants. She recently completed the UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture Certificate Program and begins her career as a Landscape Designer at Albert A. Webb Associates, building on her experience as a Landscape Design Intern. She is passionate about creating resilient, biodiverse landscapes that strengthen connections between people, wildlife, and place.
Her commitment to ecological landscapes extends into her own backyard, where she designed, installed, and manages a native habitat garden with more than 50 plant species that supports local wildlife, including more than 30 bird species and five mammal species. Her orange cat, Poppy, enjoys the garden from a “catio” that Torie built to safely experience the landscape. Her personal connection to nature reflects her broader design philosophy: creating landscapes where people and wildlife can thrive together.
