2021 Capstone Project

INTERWEAVE: Reclaiming Koreatown with Activated Spaces through History, Culture and Art
As one of the most dense and diverse neighborhoods in Los Angeles, Koreatown’s multi-faceted community suffers various issues rooted in economic, ecological, and cultural inequality. This project takes into consideration Koreatown’s lack of affordable housing, open space, urban environmental impact and the needs for health and safety. The reclamation of Koreatown begins with the integration of mixed-use living, civic spaces, visual arts, green infrastructure, cultural education, and outreach programs that will interweave and strengthen Koreatown’s rich history and community.
